SKIPPER THE WIENER DOG
SKIPPER THE WIENER DOG
The Weenie Wonders Club is a non-profit organization that strives to educate, prevent and support people, especially, pet owners on Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD), a spine disease that is commonly known in small breed dogs, especially dachshunds. The inspiration behind the Weenie Wonders Club is a weiner dog named, Skipper, who was a 13 year survivor of IVDD. All proceeds raised by the Weenie Wonders Club will go towards IVDD research and any supplies/medical costs for those dealing with IVDD. One way the Weenie Wonders Club educates its audience on IVDD is through a children’s book called, “The Life of a Weenie Wonder,” that serves to educate families on IVDD by taking you through Skipper’s journey with the disease. The book teaches the reader how Skipper and his family make the most out of life with IVDD. Today, the Weenie Wonders Club and "The Life of a Weenie Wonder" pays tribute to Skipper's incredible life story and is a constant example that although a disease may be life-changing, it does not have to be life-ending.
